In the East Kazakhstan Region, the head of a district department has been held administratively liable for posting false information on the official website of a government agency, Orda.kz reports, citing the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to the supervisory body, the Samar District Prosecutor’s Office discovered that the district Akimat’s website contained understated figures on the availability of free land plots.
The site stated the district had 180.34 hectares of hayfields and 30.62 hectares of pastures.
However, according to data from the local branch of the State Corporation “Government for Citizens” in East Kazakhstan Region, the actual area of hayfields was 193.4 hectares, while pastures totaled 30.0 hectares.
Based on this finding, the district prosecutor’s office opened an administrative case against the official under Part 1 of Article 456-2 of the Administrative Offenses Code (dissemination of false information by a government agency). On June 25, 2025, the Samar District Court found the head of the Land Relations Department guilty of this offense and imposed an administrative fine of 117,960 tenge. The court ruling has entered into legal force, the prosecutor’s office said.
According to the department, this is the first case in Kazakhstan where an official has been held administratively responsible under this article for posting false information on the official website of an information owner.
The East Kazakhstan Region Prosecutor’s Office will continue to take comprehensive measures to uphold the rule of law and prevent government agencies from disseminating false information that misleads the public, the press service added.
