Kyrgyz authorities have put Kazakh citizen Kamalutdin Khalikov on the wanted list, the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) announced, according to news outlet 24.kg, reports Orda.kz.
He is suspected of financing the criminal network of the late Kamchy Kolbaev, also known as “Kolya Kyrgyz.”
According to the GKNB, Khalikov serves as president of the Boxing Federation of the Qaraganda region. He has allegedly faced prosecution in Kazakhstan in the past for organizing a criminal group, with smuggling goods from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan also listed among his criminal record.
The security service claims Khalikov repeatedly met with Asanbek Kolbaev at the “Bars” resort in Issyk-Kul and was involved in financing “joint business projects with Kamchy.”
A Kyrgyz court has ordered his pre-trial detention in absentia.
This is not the first time a Kazakhstani has been linked to Kolbayev’s network. Earlier this year, Orda.kz reported on Yerkanat Dzhumabekov, another Kazakh citizen wanted in Kyrgyzstan for alleged ties to the group
