Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has introduced a temporary ban on flights over, within and near the airspace of several Middle Eastern countries due to heightened regional tensions and risks to civil aviation, Orda.kz reports.

Until a special order, a total ban on flights over, within and near the airspace of Iran, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon is introduced. The restriction applies to all regular and charter, passenger, cargo and technical flights of Kazakhstan airlines.

As a result, the routes were changed and the flights of Air Astana and FlyArystan were canceled.

There are no flights to the Middle East in the SCAT schedule for February 28 and March 1.

Foreign airlines — Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Flydubai, Jazeera Airways, Air Cairo and others — are revising the schedule together with head offices and tour operators. Iranian carriers also have failures: Qeshm Air flights are delayed, and Pars Air canceled flights until March 3.

Passengers are informed via SMS, e-mail, mobile applications, websites and call centers.

The Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan has a round-the-clock hotline:

  • +7 7172 77 98 15
  • +7 7172 79 82 13
  • +7 7172 79 82 14

You can check the flight status directly with the airlines:

  • Air Astana — +7 727 244 44 77
  • FlyArystan — +7 727 331 10 10
  • SCAT — +7 7252 99 88 80
  • Qazaq Air — +7 727 356 14 14

Air traffic in the region remains unstable. New schedule changes are possible.
