Kazakhstan’s Majilis has approved a bill to ratify an agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Austria on the readmission and transit of people staying in either country illegally, Orda.kz reports.
The agreement sets out the rules and conditions for returning irregular migrants and regulates how they are received, transferred and moved in transit. It applies not only to Kazakh and Austrian citizens, but also to third-country nationals and stateless people.
Under the agreement, third-country nationals would be returned to their country of citizenship. Stateless people would be sent back to the country of their last permanent residence or to the state that issued their travel documents.
