A court has ordered the detention of a Kazakhmys employee suspected of severely assaulting an eight-year-old boy in Balkhash, Orda.kz reports.
Police are also investigating a possible sexual assault.
According to the Qaraganda Region Police Department, the suspect has been placed under arrest for two months, and a pre-trial investigation is underway.
In response to the suspect's statement that the minor victim may have attempted to commit illegal sexual acts against his young daughter, investigators are conducting a full range of necessary measures. Their goal is to establish a complete and objective picture of what happened. All possible versions and arguments of both parties are being checked, the police department said.
Resident Madina Dosymbekova has accused the suspect, an employee of JSC Kazakhmys, of assaulting and torturing her son. She also alleged that the man has connections in the police, hospital, and other government agencies, and that attempts are being made to cover up the case.
Dosymbekova has called on the public to draw attention to the matter and demanded a fair investigation.
The suspect has claimed that Dosymbekova’s son sexually assaulted his daughter. Police have opened a separate case. The investigation is ongoing.
