The management of Kazakhmys has pledged greater transparency, Orda.kz reports.
The corporation announced a major reform of its management structure. CEO Nurakhmet Nuriyev stated at a meeting with labor collectives that the company’s general director, the head of the mining and processing complex, and the entire industrial safety management team have been dismissed.
By June, five autonomous units will be established, each with its budget and authority.
The updated structure involves delegating authority and eliminating redundant management links. This should increase the efficiency and transparency of processes within the company,
Kazakhmys said.
The reforms follow the suspension of operationsat nearly all mines and processing plants two weeks ago, after nine workers died at company sites since the beginning of the year. Kazakhmys stated it is currently inspecting all high-risk facilities.
