Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture has proposed banning apple imports from August 1 to December 31, 2026. The draft order was published on the Open NPA portal, Orda.kz reports.

If adopted, the ban will apply to supplies by road, rail and water transport. The restrictions will affect imports from both third countries and EAEU member states. Transit through Kazakhstan will not be prohibited.

The ministry said the measure is aimed at supporting domestic producers and ensuring stable sales of their products.

The draft was developed based on a June 5, 2026 decision by the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy. Public discussion will last until July 8. If the order is adopted, the ban will come into force on August 1.
