KASE and AIX Record Sharp Rise in Trading Activity

Trading activity on Kazakhstan’s two stock exchanges rose sharply in the first half of 2026. Volume increased by 48.8% on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) and by 48.7% on the Astana International Exchange (AIX), Orda.kz reports, citing the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan.
Total trading volume on KASE reached 261.9 trillion tenge, up 85.9 trillion from a year earlier. Most of this came from the money market, which accounted for 222.1 trillion tenge, while foreign-exchange trading reached 31.5 trillion tenge.
Securities trading grew more modestly, rising 15.9% to 8.4 trillion tenge. Share trading increased by 38.3% but amounted to only 225.9 billion tenge — less than 0.1% of KASE’s total turnover.
The KASE index gained 10%, while the AIX index rose 13%. Natural-resource companies led the market: KazMunayGas shares climbed 56%, Solidcore Resources 29%, Kazatomprom 22% and KazTransOil 19%. Total stock market capitalization increased by 18.8%.
Foreign investment in Kazakh government bonds rose by more than 25% to 2.5 trillion tenge. Non-residents now hold 6.9% of these securities, up from 6.2% a year earlier.
KASE added 29 issuers and 174 instruments, while AIX registered 74 new listings from 53 issuers. KASE remains Kazakhstan’s main market for tenge-denominated trading, while AIX provides companies with access to international debt markets.
