In the Jambyl region, Deputy Head of the Justice Department Bauyrzhan Shamgunov and his subordinate Berikbol Bayuzakov are set to face trial on charges of accepting bribes from private judicial enforcement officers, Orda.kz reports.
According to investigators, the two officials were detained by National Security Committee (KNB) officers about a month ago. The probe found that they had accepted payments — starting from 100,000 tenge — in exchange for not revoking private enforcement officers’ licenses despite identified violations.
Both defendants admitted guilt and expressed remorse during the investigation. The case has been transferred to Taraz City Court No. 2 under an expedited procedure.
Under Kazakh law, such offenses carry penalties of up to 12 years in prison, confiscation of property, and a lifetime ban on holding public office.
