Israel and Hamas have finalized an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, according to an announcement from Netanyahu's office on Friday morning.
The Israeli government is set to vote on the deal on January 17, 2025, with the ceasefire expected to begin on January 19.
The breakthrough came after Qatar's Prime Minister confirmed on January 15 that both parties had come to terms, though some accusations were exchanged in the aftermath.
Under the agreement, the initial phase will involve the release of 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas. In exchange, Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from its detention facilities.
