Illegal Miners Damage Protected Forest Reserve Near Semey

Illegal mining has been discovered on the territory of the Semey Ormany reserve in the Abay region, Orda.kz reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said the digging took place on the lands of the Bolshe-Bukonsky forestry area of the Tau-Dala branch. This is a specially protected natural area. The illegal mining destroyed fertile soil and green spaces.
According to the forestry service, the damage exceeded 228 million tenge.
The environmental prosecutor’s office has opened a criminal case under the article on unauthorized use of subsoil.
