German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that Ukraine is now officially permitted to use long-range weapons against Russia without any restrictions on their range, Orda.kz reports, citing Deutsche Welle (DW).
Merz made the statement during a forum organized by the German broadcaster WDR, confirming that Germany, the UK, France, and the United States have lifted limitations on how Ukraine can use the long-range weaponry they supply.
There are no longer any range restrictions on the weapons being delivered to Ukraine — not from the UK, not from France, not from us, and not from the Americans. This means Ukraine can now defend itself by targeting military objectives inside Russia,
DW quoted Merz as saying
Merz also responded to comments made by Donald Trump regarding Vladimir Putin. The former U.S. President recently posted that he was surprised by Putin’s behavior, even calling the Russian leader “crazy.”
“I’m surprised that he’s only now surprised,” Merz remarked.
These statements came in the wake of one of the most intense waves of Russian attacks on Ukraine. On Sunday night, Russia launched 298 drones and 69 missiles, followed by 355 drones and nine missiles on Monday night.
