As Bloomberg reports, speaking to journalists in New Jersey, former U.S. President Donald Trump said he is “definitely” considering the introduction of new economic restrictions against Russia.
The statement came after back-to-back overnight missile and drone attacks on Ukraine by Russian forces, despite ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.
“I'm not happy with what Putin is doing. He's killing a lot of people, and I don't know what the hell happened to Putin,” Trump told reporters.“I've known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don't like it at all.”
Later, on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

According to Bloomberg, the new sanctions under consideration may target the Russian oil sector, including restrictions on Rosneft and the broader trade in Russian crude.
One week prior, Trump and Putin had spoken by phone. Trump described the conversation as successful and expressed hope for the start of full-fledged peace talks.
