The investigation into former Prosecutor General Kairat Kozhamzharov is still ongoing, but his whereabouts remain unknown, Orda.kz reports.
When asked whether Kozhamzharov had received Russian citizenship, Deputy Prosecutor General Galymzhan Koigeldiyev commented:
The pre-trial investigation is underway. Let’s wait for the results, then everything will become clear. His whereabouts will be determined during the investigation,
he said on the sidelines.
As for Kozhamzharov’s protégé, Maksat Duissenov, he is currently under extradition arrest.
Maksat Duissenov has been detained in Germany. The extradition process has begun. There has been no refusal from Germany. We’re working,
Koigeldiyev added.
Kozhamzharov is charged with abuse of office and money laundering, while Duissenov faces charges of fraud and bribery.
Koigeldiyev also shared details about Olesya Keksel, another former associate of Kozhamzharov.
As you know, a pre-trial investigation into the torture allegations has been launched. Just recently, the court ordered her to be placed under house arrest for two months,
he said.
It is possible that this measure of restraint was chosen for Keksel because she has a young child.
