According to Orda.kz sources, Olesya Keksel, a former high-ranking figure in Kazakhstan’s anti-corruption agency, has become a defendant in a criminal case alongside Talgat Tatubaev and other former officials.
Keksel has reportedly been formally charged.
No official confirmation has been issued by state authorities so far.
Preliminary information suggests she is involved in a torture case linked to former BTA Bank employees. The case was opened in the context of a broader investigation into former anti-corruption officials accused of using unlawful methods during investigations.
Keksel previously served as head of the Special Prosecutors' Service in 2018. She was considered part of the inner circle of Talgat Tatubayev and Kairat Kozhamzharov, both of whom held senior positions in Kazakhstan’s financial police and anti-corruption structures.
Keksel played a key role in several high-profile cases, including those involving former Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov and ex-Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev.
As Orda.kz previously reported, several former security officials were recently detained. Among them were Tatubayev, a close associate of Kozhamzharov, and Bauyrzhan Muzhikov, former head of the financial police’s investigative department.
The ongoing investigation against them is being conducted under charges of torture.
