Former Kyrgyz Deputy Among 11 Detained for Alleged Protest Plot

During searches of the former deputy and his accomplices, grenades, firearms, and instructions on how to organize protests were found, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has detained 11 people suspected of organizing mass riots.
According to the investigation, individual members of the public association "Kyrk Uruu Zheti Duban Yntymagy" regularly held meetings where they called for protests and destabilization of the country.
A criminal case was opened against the detainees under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic ("Organization of Mass Riots Accompanied by Violence").
The homes of all suspects were searched.
The following was confiscated from the suspected protest organizers:
- Grenades, firearms and bladed weapons, ammunition
- Drugs and religious literature
- Instructions for organizing mass riots
- Balaclavas, camouflage clothing, fake license plates
- Mobile phones and flashcards
Among the suspects is a former member of the Jogorku Kenesh (the Kyrgyz parliament). The defendants in the case were sent to a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
The news emerges following past arrests for a similar plot, reportedly involving Former Kyrgyz Deputy Prosecutor General, Major General of Justice Kuban Adyl Uulu.
