Dolin’s performance in Almaty was almost canceled the day before, Orda.kz reports.
Russian film critic Anton Dolin was supposed to present his book in Astana on December 1.
However, the event was canceled, and Dolin wrote about this on Facebook.
There will be no events with my participation in Astana tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,He wrote.
On November 28, he spoke in Almaty, but issues preceded the event.
The event was initially planned for the SmartPoint space, but a few hours before the start, the venue couldn't hold it due to equipment problems.
The film critic had to speak in Zhest club.
As an indie rocker (or stand-up comedian, whichever you prefer), amid threatening messages about police calls and visits, probably from special services, I nevertheless performed on stage, having seen and listened to a lot of alternative music, Dolin wrote.
The remaining five events involving the critic were canceled during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit.
Already in the process, I found out that Putin visited Kazakhstan at the same time. In Astana, he was greeted with tricolors and hugs. No cancellations, basically. Fate, huh? A year ago, I was canceled in Vilnius for (allegedly) helping Putin. And now it seems that they canceled in Almaty and Astana, so as not to spoil Putin's mood (I'm joking, but not entirely),
Dolin wrote.
Dolin thanked those who were able to attend the Almaty event.
They witnessed an event that was historical in its own way - my, apparently, last performance in Central Asia. At least in the current historical period, he wrote.
Anton Dolin openly opposes Russia's war against Ukraine.
