Expert Comments on Armenia Not Contributing to CSTO Budget

Political analyst Gaziz Abishev shared his views on Armenia's decision to withhold its annual contribution to the CSTO on Telegram, Orda.kz reports.
Armenia opted out of contributing to the budget of the CSTO defense bloc. This is normal. After all, if Armenia manages to conclude a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, then there will be no need to fear Baku's military efforts to gain access to Nakhichevan. It will be enough to open the Zangezur corridor — and there will be no problem,
the political analyst wrote.
He believes that by suspending its payments, Armenia is signaling that it “does not really need guarantees of the inviolability of its internationally recognized territory from its CSTO partners.”
This means that there is no other option other than signing a mutually beneficial peace treaty,
Abishev concluded.
As previously reported, Armenia declined to sign the CSTO’s 2024 budget decision and officially notified the organization that it would not contribute this year.
