Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar was asked to comment on the dismissal of former Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev, Orda.kz reports.
As a reminder, Karabayev learned of his dismissal while on a working trip. Sklyar described the resignation as a routine event.
I don’t see anything unusual in this. It’s part of an ongoing process. People come and go, ministers work and step down. So I don’t see anything extraordinary here,Sklyar said, speaking to journalists at Aqorda.
He offered only a vague explanation for his colleague’s departure, though recent public criticism from the President may have played a role.
There were probably some reasons for it. I’d prefer not to comment on them now. Each new period dictates new requirements for leaders. (...) As you know, there was serious criticism from the head of state during the Security Council meeting. So, there’s work to be done at the Ministry of Transport. I don’t want to evaluate any particular minister at this moment. I think time will show who worked and what issues were addressed.
The position of Minister of Transport remains vacant.
Journalist Sayana Sanakova recently posted a video on Instagram showing Marat Karabayev aboard a flight. At the time Aqorda announced his dismissal, he was en route to attend the opening of a terminal in the Georgian city of Poti.
Previously, the President publicly reprimanded Karabayev for missing deadlines and contributing to traffic congestion at Kazakhstan’s borders.
