Delays Reported in Aqtobe’s “100 Yards” Improvement Project

In Aqtobe, the “100 Yards” project — launched last year to upgrade courtyards with new asphalt, drainage systems, pedestrian paths, and lighting—has encountered delays in certain areas, Orda.kz reports.
The initiative is funded by the local budget, which allocated 1.115 billion tenge for the work.
While initial progress was positive, some courtyards remain incomplete. On Sherniyaz Street 16, for example, residents have been waiting for new asphalt since last year.
In October 2024, the contractor removed the existing asphalt, despite its relatively good condition, and replaced it with crushed stone. Since then, the surface has not been restored.

Residents say the unfinished state has persisted for eight months. Instead of a paved surface, large stones cover the area, raising concerns about safety and accessibility. One child has already sustained a head injury, and older residents find it especially difficult and dangerous to move through the courtyard.
The tender to redevelop 36 courtyards, valued at 970 million tenge, was awarded to LLP Yenbek. The company’s director, Bagdaulet Seidualiyev, attributed the delay to unfavorable weather.
The residents themselves wanted it to start sooner. I thought I would make it, but then it didn't work out because of the weather. The project is designed for three and a half months, this year there's a month and a half left. We haven't gotten a coupon yet. When they give it to us, for example, on June 1, we have until mid-July, he explained.
Seidualiyev has pledged to accelerate the work and stated that asphalt laying will begin this week. Whether the revised timeline is met remains to be seen.
Orda.kz will continue to follow the situation.
