A new mining and processing plant is planned at the Aydarly deposit in the Ayagoz district of the Abay region, where the project aims to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates, Orda.kz reports, citing the regional akimat.
The plant is expected to process up to 75 million tons of ore a year using open-pit mining. Annual output is projected at 1.1 million tons of copper concentrate with a copper content of 23%, as well as 7,500 tons of molybdenum concentrate.
The deposit will be developed by Aidarly Project JSC. Total investment in the project is expected to exceed $4.5 billion, with implementation planned through 2030.
The project is currently in the development stage, and construction and installation work is scheduled to begin this summer. The enterprise is expected to be commissioned in 2029.
The region is also continuing geological exploration under its 2023–2027 plan. So far, 64 promising deposits of gold, uranium and other minerals have been identified.
