Kazakhstan has already sown 202,000 hectares in its southern regions, while active preparations continue in the north. The total sown area in 2026 is expected to reach about 23.8 million hectares, or 180,000 hectares more than a year earlier, Orda.kz reports, citing the latest report from the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov, the country has fully secured its seed fund of 2.3 million tons.
It is important for us to synchronize our work, discuss current problems and resolve them promptly. The harvest largely depends on how the sowing campaign is carried out. the agriculture minister said.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov said the area planted with wheat had been reduced by 125,000 hectares this year, while the area allocated to oilseeds increased by 55,000 hectares, fodder crops by 237,000 hectares, and potatoes by 10,000 hectares. The area under rice stands at 80,300 hectares, while cotton covers 162,400 hectares.
For the sowing campaign, 402,000 tons of discounted diesel fuel were allocated. Agricultural producers had 133,900 tractors, about 5,600 high-performance sowing complexes, 71,400 seeders, 188,500 tillage implements and 70 service centers for technical support. Equipment readiness stands at about 90%, the report says.
Under the preferential leasing program for agricultural machinery, authorities received applications for the purchase of 3,021 units of equipment worth 111 billion tenge, 90% of it domestically produced, the deputy minister added. He also said a pool of applications had already been formed for special loans to farmers totaling 548 billion tenge.
Regions that showed low levels of preparedness for the spring field campaign were instructed to intensify their work.
