Prosecutors in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region say gas tariffs were raised despite the utility rate moratorium, Orda.kz reports.
According to the inspection, OtebayGaz Aimaq increased the price from 39,423 to 50,809 tenge per 1000 cubic meters starting in November 2025.
The increase violated the moratorium on raising utility tariffs introduced in October last year.
After the intervention of prosecutors in the Arys district, the tariff was revised and lowered to 38,746 tenge.
A total of 54 million tenge in overpayments was credited toward future bills, while the company was fined 5.4 million tenge.
The recalculation affected more than 6000 subscribers.
