A Chinese company will build a steel plant in Kazakhstan worth $1.2 billion. The plant is designed to produce three million tons of steel per year, Orda.kz reports.
The partner in the project is Fujian Hengwang Investment. The plant is expected to create about 2500 jobs and will supply both the domestic market and exports.
Fujian is one of China’s key industrial regions. We work with provinces, not with China as a whole. Through its ports, Kazakhstani products can enter southern China and ASEAN countries. trade minister Arman Shakkaliyev said.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Fujian province reached about $522 million in 2025.
At the same time, the localisation of several more industries is under discussion. With textile company Jinyuan, it is the launch of yarn production. With Weihua Heavy Machinery, lifting equipment. With Shenda Electric, transformers. With Jinlun Hi-tech Fiber, synthetic fibres.
