Authorities Investigate Dark Liquid Near Sairan Reservoir

A discharge of dark liquid resembling waste was recorded in the riverbed below the Sairan Reservoir, Orda.kz reports.
Police and the Almaty Department of Ecology and Environment are investigating who released the liquid and what it contains. Officials have inspected the site.
The inspection established that the discharge point is part of a drainage collector and irrigation network designed to carry rainwater, meltwater and irrigation water,the department’s press service said.
Environmental specialists collected water samples for laboratory testing. If the results reveal violations of environmental law, the relevant authorities will take action.
