Kazakh authorities have gone on high alert due to the escalation in the Middle East, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed officials to prepare a plan of emergency steps in case of possible risks to stability within the country, Orda.kz reports.
Secretary of the Security Council Gizat Nurdauletov, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies and relevant ministries, should submit specific proposals.
All power structures have already been transferred to round-the-clock operation. A monitoring group has been established in the government, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Akims have been instructed to take into account developments in the region when organizing work on the ground.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there are no citizens of Kazakhstan among the victims in Iran, Kazinform writes. According to official data, there are now 96 Kazakhstanis in Iran, and authorities remain in constant communication with them.
The conflict in the Middle East began this morning with Israel’s strikes on Iraq. Later, the beginning of the military operation was confirmed by the President of the United States. In response, Iraq launched missiles at all countries of the Persian Gulf, except Oman.
