The Federation Council approved the agreement on July 2, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed it into law on July 7, Orda.kz reports.
Under the renewed deal, Russian oil and oil products will be supplied to Kazakhstan duty-free until 2028, based on annual volumes coordinated by the energy ministries of both countries.
According to the protocol, these supplies will undergo customs declaration in Russia, without the use of temporary or periodic customs procedures. The rule does not apply to pipeline deliveries, which are governed by separate regulations.
The agreement will automatically renew every five years unless either party gives advance notice to terminate it.
Kazakhstan first announced plans to extend the intergovernmental deal in November 2024. The original agreement was signed in December 2010 and expired on January 1, 2024.
