U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 10% tariff on any country that supports what he called the “anti-American” agenda of BRICS, Orda.kz reports, citing a statement the president made on his social media account.
Any Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Trump said.
The warning comes shortly after Trump held phone calls with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The U.S. leader reportedly expressed satisfaction with his conversation with Zelenskyy, while describing his exchange with Putin as deeply disappointing.
On July 6, Putin addressed the 17th BRICS summit, chaired by Brazil, via video link. In his remarks, the Russian President highlighted the growing influence of the BRICS bloc.
BRICS countries account for a third of the world’s land area and nearly half the global population. Together, they represent 40% of the world economy, and their combined GDP based on purchasing power parity is already $77 trillion, according to IMF data for 2025. This exceeds that of some other groupings, including the G7, which stands at $57 trillion,
Putin noted.
He also referenced the BRICS summit in Kazan, where a new category of membership — “partner countries” — was introduced.
Kazakhstan became a BRICS partner state in 2025. While full membership had initially been considered, the country ultimately opted for a partnership format.
