AMANAT will hold a party gathering on June 12, where Kazakhstan’s ruling party may clarify what its call for political consolidation means, Orda.kz reports.
At a political council meeting in Astana today, AMANAT said “all progressive public and political forces” should unite around the goal of building a fair and progressive Kazakhstan.
The meeting was chaired by Mazhilis Speaker and AMANAT chairman Yerlan Koshanov. The party said it supports President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s reform agenda and is ready to work with forces that share this course.
One possible scenario is a merger with Adilet, a new pro-presidential party led by Aibek Dadebay, the former head of the Presidential Administration.
Whether the two parties will merge may become clearer after the June 12 gathering.
