According to preliminary information, the General Director of the Atyrau Oil Refinery, Galymzhan Zhusanbayev, voluntarily submitted a letter of resignation, Orda.kz reports.

Orda's sources claim that Zhusanbayev has decided to leave his management position on his initiative and will leave the plant soon.

He is now purportedly negotiating the terms of his dismissal with KazMunayGas's management.

According to an ANPZ source, Galymzhan Zhusanbayev has already spoken with Askhat Khasenov, the Chair of KMG's Board.

They may have discussed possible relations between Zhusanbayev and the plant after the general director change; presumably, the discussion could have been about the supply of fuel oil from the ANPZ to the fuel base of the enterprise "Petro Export," which was once headed by Zhusanbayev.

The dismissal has not yet been approved, the source emphasized.

Nevertheless, according to preliminary information, the KMG management intends to agree on Zhusanbaev's dismissal.

The last straw for the national company was, in all likelihood, the botched planned repairs at the Atyrau Refinery, after which the plant was only relaunched with notable complications.

The KMG press service has neither confirmed nor denied the information about Zhusanbayev's plans:

Information is being disseminated regarding the possible resignation of General Director of the ANPZ Galymzhan Zhusanbayev. We ask that you trust information only from official sources. As for the work of the ANPZ, the plant is operating as usual, KMG press secretary Yerlan Sisenov reported.

The claims against the director are probably related to issues with the launch of the delayed coking unit, a critical unit at the plant. Sources at the Atyrau Refinery said that Galymzhan Zhusanbayev insisted on the immediate launch of the unit despite the technical problems and potential risk.

The delayed coking unit was launched at total capacity after additional repairs.

KMG was dissatisfied.

However, this is not the only reason that could have prompted Zhusanbayev to resign. He had already faced dismissal over a conflict with a significant part of the ANPZ team.

Although Galymzhan Zhusanbaev recently won a lawsuit against six co-authors of a collective petition in which he was accused of numerous violations, he was still unable to win over the plant's employees.

The protracted conflict between Zhusanbayev and critical engineering and technical staff representatives has been going on since the beginning of 2024 and has affected the plant's production indicators.
