Half Capacity: Key ANPZ Unit Launched

On November 12, the Atyrau Oil Refinery finally launched the delayed coking unit (DCU), a key unit at the plant, Orda.kz reports.
The unit has yet to operate at total capacity. A source among the current ANPZ employees said that only one of the two DCU units has been put into operation so far.
Today, only the second block was launched. There are two DCU blocks, and each has a pair of reactors. But it is too early to talk about the normal operation mode - the coke loading should be 100%, and an hour ago it was only 40%, the source said.
The plant employee claims that both units will operate stably only when the unit is loaded to full capacity. The DCU launch is in progress without malfunctions.
The delayed coking unit is a vital component at the Atyrau refinery. Its launch is necessary for the plant to finally return to normal operation after the scheduled repairs were completed on October 25.
We have already reported on this issue.
Analysts suggested that the full launch of the plant may require the assistance of a contractor from Russia.
