An Almaty resident says her ex-husband severely beat her in front of their children, leaving her in need of multiple jaw surgeries. She claims the investigation into the incident is being delayed, Orda.kz reports.
Dilbar Timurova, who has been divorced for three years and is raising two children, believes her former husband may be using personal connections to avoid accountability.
Three weeks have passed, and law enforcement hasn't taken any action! I've had several surgeries to reconstruct my jaw and have been hospitalized. I wouldn't have sought help if they'd taken action against Nuradin Timurov, my ex-husband,
Timurova said.
Police confirmed that a criminal case under Article 107 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (“Intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm”) was opened on the day of the attack against the 36-year-old man.
They said the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, another woman alleged that her ex-husband, the son of a police colonel, had stalked and threatened her, also claiming he avoided responsibility due to family connections.
