Activist Originally from Temirtau Faces Treason Charges in Russia
Nadezhda Rossinskaya — an activist born in Temirtau — has been in custody for about a year, reports Orda.kz.
Attorney Alexey Pryanishnikov wrote on Telegram that Russian authorities have charged volunteer and blogger Nadine Geisler (real name Nadezhda Rossinskaya) with state treason.
The FSB has initiated a third criminal case against Nadezhda — this time under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (state treason). Previously, Nadezhda was charged with public calls for activities against Russian security and financing terrorism. All three criminal cases were initiated over the same post on an Instagram account that does not belong to Nadezhda, the lawyer reported.
Pryanishnikov writes that Rossinskaya's detention has been extended until March 31. She has been in custody since early 2024.
Nadezhda Rossinskaya is a blogger and volunteer from Belgorod.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, she created the volunteer movement "Army of Beauties," which rescued pets from occupied territories. Since 2023, Rossinskaya had been living in Georgia but returned to Russia in early 2024. That's when she was arrested.
In October 2024, Rossinskaya was added to Russia's list of extremists and terrorists.
The list indicates she was born in 1995 in Temirtau.
