The wildfire that began on the evening of April 4 in the Semey Ormany nature reserve has been fully extinguished. The fire had spread across 60 hectares, Orda.kz reports.
Earlier, Orda reported that the blaze started with dry grass catching fire near the village of Qoyanbay in the Besqaragay district. Strong winds quickly carried the flames into the Morozovsky branch of the Semey Ormany reserve.
Meanwhile, emergency crews are dealing with another wildfire in the Qostanay Region, near the village of B. Mailina. Driven by strong winds, the fire spread toward the Auliekol district.
Over 20 units of regional emergency equipment, more than 60 personnel, firefighting volunteers, forestry workers, and a special firefighting train have been deployed. A helicopter has also surveyed the area.
The steppe fire in Qostanay Region has been localized, but firefighting efforts continue. Strong winds are complicating the situation.
