10 Suspected Of Serious Crimes, Extortion, And Armed Hooliganism Detained In Almaty

Ten people allegedly involved in serious and especially serious crimes, extortion, and hooliganism have been detained in Almaty, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Among the detainees are previously convicted members of the criminal underworld. They are suspected of involvement in serious and especially serious crimes, including armed hooliganism, extortion, causing grievous bodily harm, and illegal trafficking in weapons and other prohibited items.
Police conducted 21 searches and seized various weapons. At the home of one of the suspects, officers found several firearms and traumatic weapons, including sawn-off shotguns and a Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition. According to the ministry, the rifle had been stolen from the Zhambyl region police department during the January events.
All suspects were taken to a temporary detention center. The court authorized detention as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
