Zelenskyy Rules Out “Korean” or “Finnish” Models for Ending War, Stresses Security Guarantees

Ukraine is not considering ending the war under the "Korean" or "Finnish" models, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters, Orda.kz reports, citing UNIAN.
He explained that the Korean War ended with an armistice but not a peace treaty, leaving questions of long-term security unresolved.
The “Korean scenario,” Zelenskyy noted, means a ceasefire without a formal settlement: the shooting stops, but the conflict is not legally closed, disputed territories remain, and borders go unrecognized — a situation that could drag on.
In his view, even a temporary ceasefire would be enough to begin talks on security guarantees for Ukraine.
We can't waste time waiting for a final treaty to end the war. We need security guarantees sooner. No one is considering the 'Korean,' 'Finnish,' or any other model. And no one knows what the end result will be. But we know what the first step is. We know what security guarantees are important to us, Zelenskyy said.
