In the early hours of April 24, 2025, Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, Orda.kz reports.
The attack resulted in at least nine deaths and 80 injuries, including six children, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was on an official visit to South Africa, announced he would cut his trip short to return to Kyiv.
Forty-four days since Ukraine agreed to a complete ceasefire... Forty-four days since Russia continues to kill people and avoid harsh pressure and responsibility for this, he wrote on Facebook.
The attack comes amid stalled peace negotiations, with recent talks in London failing to produce a ceasefire agreement. The Ukrainian government has rejected proposals that would involve territorial concessions, including the recognition of Crimea as Russian territory.
