Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with former U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague, Orda.kz reports.
Zelenskyy thanked Trump for what he described as a successful operation in the Middle East, noting in a Telegram post that U.S. actions had impacted both Iran’s nuclear program and its drone manufacturing capabilities.
The two leaders also discussed the situation on the ground in Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia is “definitely not winning,” and said he presented Trump with updated information about the battlefield.
The Ukrainian President also brought up the potential purchase of U.S.-made air defense systems.
“Ukraine is ready to purchase this equipment and support American defense manufacturers,” he wrote.
He added that European partners might assist with funding and that there was also discussion about possible cooperation on drone production.
Following the meeting, Trump held a press conference where he was asked whether the U.S. would supply Patriot missile systems to Ukraine. He responded that the missiles were in short supply but said, “We’ll see if we can provide something.”
