Renowned Russian journalist Yury Dud explained why he would like to come to Kazakhstan but currently cannot. He spoke about this in a short interview with blogger Alisher Yelikbayev, Orda.kz reports.
Yelikbayev posted a video featuring Yury Dud on his Instagram account after meeting him on the island of Madeira. In the clip, Yelikbayev asked several questions, beginning with why Dud’s YouTube show has not featured any guests from Kazakhstan for some time.
Unfortunately, I can’t come to Kazakhstan right now. The people I’d like to feature should be filmed in Kazakhstan. But getting there… it’s not possible. There’s a criminal case against me in Russia. Because of that, Kazakhstan could, it seems, extradite me in connection with this case. Despite my great affection for the Kazakh people and the fact that I have friends and acquaintances there, I can’t go yet — I meet with them somewhere on neutral ground, Yury replied.
The criminal case against Yury Dud became known in early July. On July 22, a Moscow court ordered his arrest in absentia and placed him on the wanted list.
