In Atyrau, a local court ruled that the actions of young women who posed for a photo wearing niqabs while holding a Kazakhstan flag with Arabic inscriptions at an ice rink constituted petty hooliganism, Orda.kz reports.
According to the case materials — including the official protocol, reports, photographs, and other evidence — the court found the individuals guilty.
In accordance with the sanction of the article, the punishment for such an offense may be a fine of 20 MCI or administrative arrest for a period of 5 to 15 days,
reported by the Atyrau Specialized Court for Administrative Offenses.
One of the young women received a 15-day administrative arrest due to aggravating circumstances: participation as a group and involvement of a minor. Another was fined 78,640 tenge, while the minor's legal guardian was ordered to pay 39,320 tenge.
A fourth girl also appears in the photo, but no information about her case has been disclosed.
The rulings have not yet come into legal force.
Following the incident, the Wildberries marketplace removed Kazakhstan flags featuring Arabic inscriptions from sale.
