Military personnel and fellow veterans gathered to honor Zakir Musayev, a World War II veteran who celebrated his 100th birthday on January 1, 2025.
The celebration brought together veterans from the Afghan War and other conflicts. The Defense Minister personally congratulated them and gave them gifts to mark the occasion.

Musayev's military service began in 1943 when, at just 18, he volunteered for frontline duty from his training regiment in Petropavlovsk. During the war, he survived two injuries and earned several prestigious decorations, including the Order of the Patriotic War, the Order of the Red Star, and 13 medals.
After the war, Musayev served in Dresden with the NKVD until 1950 before returning to his native village of Stary Ikan. He worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1985, raising five children with his wife.
He is now among just ten remaining World War II veterans in the Turkestan region.
