A 30-year-old electrical fitter has died at the Bogatyr Komir coal mine in the Pavlodar region, Orda.kz reports.
The incident occurred on November 22 while he was connecting an excavator to a switchgear. The worker was electrocuted and died at the scene. According to preliminary findings, the cause was a premature power supply failure.
Police said the man’s injuries were too severe to survive.
A pre-trial investigation is underway for violation of labor safety regulations,
the Pavlodar Region PD commented.
Bogatyr Komir confirmed the worker’s death and said it would provide his family with necessary assistance.
Bogatyr Komir LLP, located in Yekibastuz, is 50% owned by the Samruq-Qazyna fund.
In August, a traction unit operator died after being struck by high-voltage current, with medics only able to confirm his death. A special commission was formed to investigate.
Shortly before that, a 32-year-old electrician was seriously injured after falling while descending a high-voltage pole and was hospitalized with severe injuries.
From 2022 to 2024, at least six people died at the Bogatyr Komir site. Two fatalities were recorded each year, and some incidents were not officially classified as work-related.
