A Yekibastuz resident says a man violently attacked her, claiming her life was in danger during the incident, reports Orda.kz.
The victim says the suspect was released by police just 15 minutes after being detained.
In a post on Instagram, the woman described the ordeal in which she says she was assaulted.
She says attempts were made to force-feed an unknown white substance along with pills.
I was slammed into the wall and the floor, kicked, strangled, and forced to swallow unknown substances. This was an attempt on my life,
she wrote.
She alleges that the assault lasted more than an hour. The man reportedly beat her with forks and knives and even tore at her mouth with his hands.
The woman said that after the incident on July 18, officers arrived, detained the suspect, but then released him shortly after. Her father contacted the police to ask why, and was reportedly told:
“Why would we detain him? He wasn’t drunk.”
The victim claims that police failed to document the attack properly — they didn’t interview her thoroughly, record evidence of the struggle or blood, or collect the substances used in the alleged poisoning attempt.
The apartment was left unsecured, leading the victim to have concerns about the possible destruction of evidence.
I demand a prosecutorial and internal investigation into the police officers’ actions, and that those responsible for mishandling the crime scene be held accountable,
the woman stated.
Police later confirmed that a criminal case has been opened, but only under the charge of “Assault and Battery.”
The man has been arrested and placed in a temporary detention facility. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated,
The Pavlodar Region PD reported.
