In Almaty, a group of young women performing a dance in high heels on Arbat Street was detained by police shortly after the performance, Orda.kz reports. The choreography was led by Dilnaz Galymzhanova, who later shared details on social media.
Galymzhanova, the choreographer behind the bold idea, said the performance lasted only a few minutes before law enforcement arrived and took all participants to the police station. The group reportedly spent four hours in custody.
The girls immediately agreed to this wild idea. We knew in advance the kind of backlash we might face and that it could lead to this, she wrote on Instagram.
The dancers wore black outfits and high heels for the performance, which sparked mixed reactions online. While some praised them, others criticized the act as inappropriate.
Galymzhanova noted that performing in public like this takes courage and said she was fully aware of the risks involved.
The police have not officially explained the reason for the detention.
Orda.kz has sent a formal inquiry and is awaiting a response.
In Pavlodar, a similar situation occurred. Police summoned a male choreographer after a high-heeled dance video in which he participated went viral. Although he said the routine was part of an advertising campaign, he was still warned about a potential fine.
