The Duman Hotel in Astana, which was previously allegedly associated with Dariga Nazarbayeva, was sold to Otbasy Bank, Orda.kz reports
This announcement was made during a government briefing by Rustam Karagoyshin, Chairman of the Board of JSC NMH «Baiterek». He noted that the Duman hotel is a state-owned asset that was put up for auction. It should be noted that the hotel building was valued at 14 billion tenge.
«As part of the policy of selling this asset, there were attempts to sell it at auction, but the price was not satisfactory to potential participants. This asset was suitable for the square footage and certain parameters required for the relocation of Otbasy Bank. The bank needs its own special facilities and this building suited us. „Otbasy Bank“ fully participated in this competition within the framework of the legislation, bought the building and transferred the funds to the state», he answered
In fact, the building remained in the hands of the state. According to Karagoyshin, it would be much more expensive to build a new building.
The 44,206.5-square-metre building has a bowling club and 18 floors, including a basement. The complex is located on a plot of land leased until 2059. The floors contain 211 rooms, six business conference rooms, two restaurants and a swimming pool.
