Waste Spill in Atyrau Region Linked to EmbaMunayGas Contractor

On February 12, a drilling mud spill occurred on a dirt road in the Taisoigan rural district, Orda.kz reports.
The incident happened while transporting drilling waste from the ST-1 well at the Taisoigan site, which belongs to KainarMunayGas, a structural subdivision of EmbaMunayGas JSC. The waste was being transported by the contractor, MunaiService Ltd., when a leak occurred, contaminating the soil.
EmbaMunayGas JSC confirmed that cleanup efforts are already underway.
The contractor and our staff are quickly addressing the issue. Special equipment and 15 workers have been mobilized for the cleanup, and soil samples have been taken for analysis. The situation is being closely monitored by management, the company’s press service stated.
The contractor has been instructed to resolve the contamination as swiftly as possible.
EmbaMunayGas JSC is a key oil producer in Kazakhstan and is part of the national company KMG.
The company is involved in exploration, oil and gas field development, and oil and gas production and preparation. It has six production units in the Atyrau region.
