U.S. President Donald Trump has authorized Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike Russian territory, his special envoy, Keith Kellogg, said on Fox News, Orda.kz reports.
According to Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Kyiv can now use its existing capabilities to carry out strikes “deep into Russia.”
"I think reading what he has said, and reading what Vice President Vance has said as well as Secretary Rubio, the answer is yes. Use the ability to hit deep. There are no such things as sanctuaries," Kellogg emphasized.
Trump recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The meeting lasted seven minutes. Afterward, Trump said Ukraine, with support from the EU and NATO, is capable of retaking all occupied territories.
He also noted that Russia’s economy is facing serious problems, and now is the time for Kyiv to act.
Despite requests, a final decision on transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine has not yet been made. Media reports indicate the U.S. administration is also weighing the supply of additional ATACMS missiles.
Zelenskyy has previously stated that new weapons “will force Putin to the negotiating table.”
