UzPost (O‘zbekiston pochtasi), Uzbekistan’s national postal operator, has responded to reports of its privatization, Orda.kz reports, citing Gazeta.uz.
The company clarified that it is seeking investors to support modernization and digital transformation, not selling its state stake.
UzPost said the move comes as demand for traditional mail services declines and e-commerce deliveries surge, requiring investment in logistics, technology, and digital infrastructure.
The company plans to attract funding to modernize postal facilities, expand rural branches, and create new processing and delivery centers. It expects these measures to improve service quality, ensure access in remote areas, and create new jobs.
Our shareholders remain state organizations, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Agency for State Asset Management, along with five state enterprises and more than 16,000 private individuals and entities,
the company stated.
UzPost added that if a major investor is brought in, details will be disclosed in accordance with Uzbekistan’s law on joint-stock companies.
Earlier reports claimed that a Russian online platform — reportedly Wildberries — might acquire a stake in UzPost, but the company says no privatization deal has taken place.
