Uzbekistan advocates equal and respectful cooperation with all partners, both East and West, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahror Burkhanov told Gazeta.uz, reports Orda.kz.
He stressed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is not aimed at confrontation with the West and outlined how Tashkent views the future of global governance.
Our country consistently stands for equal and respectful cooperation with all partners — East and West alike — on the basis of international law, non-interference, and mutual benefit. We do not share views that assume confrontation and believe all challenges should be resolved through dialogue, not conflict, Burkhanov said.
He emphasized that the SCO has always positioned itself as an open, non-aligned organization based on sovereignty and equality, not as a military or political bloc.
Uzbekistan continues to pursue a balanced foreign policy, avoiding involvement in global rivalries.
“We do not see international relations as a zero-sum game and do not join military-political blocs. Our priority is sustainable development, stability, and prosperity in Central Asia,” he noted.
On global governance, Burkhanov said Tashkent supports a system grounded in international law and the UN Charter, one that is inclusive and fair, giving developing countries a greater voice.
He added that Uzbekistan seeks to serve as a “bridge between regions” and will use the SCO platform to deepen cooperation, including with the Global South.
