Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry reminded that its citizens are under the protection of the state wherever they are, citing national and international law, Orda.kz reports, citing Gazeta.uz.
The statement came after a video from Khimki, near Moscow, went viral in which a man shouted at an Uzbek taxi driver: “You’re a slave, a slave of Russians!”
The confrontation reportedly began when the taxi briefly blocked a courtyard entrance while waiting for a garbage truck to pass.
The MFA urged citizens abroad to immediately contact local law enforcement if their rights are violated, as well as the consular missions of Uzbekistan.
It added that protecting citizens overseas remains a key direction of state policy.
